Deregulation is Empowering

Deregulation Puts you in Charge

Since 2002, deregulation for Texas residential electricity has empowered you as a consumer to compare prices, find a plan that works for you and access options that add value. Potentially more important than all of those benefits is your power to fire your provider. You have the unilateral authority to switch away from your electricity provider for any reason at any time. You don’t even have to tell them they’re fired. Just switch away. Your choice to switch away could result in an early termination fee if you have not completed the term of the product you selected, but even in that case, your provider cannot force you to stay.

Your choice to switch away could be driven by anything. If you’re not happy with the way your plan was presented when you first signed up; if you had to wait a long time on hold; if you were charged a fee you don’t like; if the color of the bill bothers your eyes… you can leave for any reason. Deregulation has set you free to make your own choice, and you can make it whenever you please for any reason you like. Before deregulation, there was no choice. You could file a complaint and… what? Well who knows what happened with complaints. Even if something did happen, you had to work for it.

Now, the power is in your hands. You get to make your choice. In fact, now the electricity providers are the ones that have to work for it. The providers want you to make two choices: (a) choose to switch to me, and (b) choose not to leave me. Champion Energy, along with all of our competitors, are working to earn your business, to earn your choice. Sometimes we are successful. Other times we are not. Whether or not the provider is successful, you can never really lose anymore, because you are in charge now. You have the choice.
